The Company
The Beginning

The idea to manufacture shelves like construction kits goes back to the company’s founder Rudolf Bohnacker. It was him who started the designing, production and distribution of the shelving kit system in the late fifties.
His guiding principle: good personnel management, looking for success together with his employees, best and constant quality, fast lead times, and manufacturing well-priced products by using state-of-the-art technology. Energy efficient transports (if possible on the railroad), environmentally friendly use of water, power, air, packaging and raw materials. No use of health ominous or even poisonous chemicals, colours and substances in the factories.

Due to the big request the product range enlarged very fast culminating in 1966 with the solution to broaden the limited-lot production by manufacturing cost-effective with large-scale shopfitting systems in a factory building in Krauchenwies/Germany. This was the hour of birth of the Tegometall Group.

The History of the Tegometall Group

1966
Company foundation. The first factory building in Krauchenweis/Germany was bought. Beginning of the manufacturing of Tegometall qualtity products for shopfitting systems.

The Seventies
Expansion of the Tegometall Shopfitting System. Installation of the network with service centers. Connection to the international railway network. Tegometall transports raw material from the steel manufacturing regions as well as finished products for their clients.

The Eighties
In the Eighties the product range of Stoarge Systems gets expanded. Tegometall creates the storage shelving system which is able to combine the shopfitting shelving system and has it patented. By this the clients can save money and the design of combined shopfitting and storage systems has been improved significantly.

The Ninties
The big request for products from the Storage System leads into the construction of a new factory in Sauldorf/Germany, in which the elements of combined shelving systems for DIY-stores, C&C, super markets and discounters are produced.

The plant in Krauchenwies specialises in the manufacturing of shopfitting systems while the factory in Sauldorf focuses in the production of storage shelving systems. Further development of the very successful „combined“ storage shelves for use at industrial storage shelving systems.

Establishing of the own moulding systems. The necessary profiles for the storage system stand C and the traverse profile can now be manufactured made-to-measure.

1993
Rudolf Bohnacker assigns the Tegometall group to his son Ulrich Bohnacker. The guiding principles and values of the founder get retained and preserved with the launch of a new organisation.

1994
The international buisness of the group gets passed on to Tegometall International AG (Switzerland). Construction of the plant in Kreuzlingen/Switzerland and a special large-scale paint-spray line system for powder coating.

1995
Due to increasing customer demand for wire products such as used for back panels and steel shelves a new factory is founded in Bekescsaba/Hungary.

1996
In Pniewy/Poland another factory for accessory components starts production. Now the clients from Poland, Eastern Europe and Russia can be supplied from here.

1998
Building of a second factory in Switzerland. They are manufacturing their individual products, special designs and new technologies for the whole group by using state-of-the-art laser equipment.

2003
Opening of the chinese plant in Kunshan/Region Shanghai. This factory had been establised due to the big request in the Asian market. Highest priority is been given to the qualtity and production standards which made Tegometall famous in the whole world.

2004
Aquisition of the Achlachtal Railway Line/Germany. Since this railway from Krauchenwies into the South had been considered by the Deutsche Bahn to be decommissioned it was decided to found the Railway Company Ablachtal-Bahn GmbH and therefore aquired the 41 km long railway line between Mengen and Stockach. With this step it was possible to safeguard the future transport service for the factories in Krauchenwies and Sauldorf. In the following years the railway was further modernised by funds from the government in Baden-Württemberg, too.

2007
Takeover of the company ALPOS OPREMA TRGOVIN, d.o.o. in Slovenia and opening of the third production facility in Switzerland with focus on the Decocoat method. With this new process it is possible to coat metal surfaces with designs of wood, stone or photographies.

Installation of two electroplating machines for galvanising and chromium plating. The programm for back panels, hooks and holders can now be galvanised by ourselves and parts for the clothing shops get chrome plated with direct quality control during production.

2009
Initiation of a coil splitting machine. This one can split coils with a total weight of 40 tons for the further process on the moulding systems.

Today more than ca. 800 employees are working worldwide for the Tegometall Group. Ca. 80.000 tons of steel get converted.
